For plastics extrusion, MSM offers the customer different solutions for process automation, especially in the blown film and sheet extrusion of HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE and BIO plastic materials:
VIP management system supervises and controls all the extrusion system parameters:
VIP system allows to control, from a single console, all the components of the extrusion line through a simple HMI graphic interface on the "Touch Screen" display. The system is very flexible and customizable to the specific requests of the customer and is expandable and integrated with the plastic granule central conveying system. It is possible to include further process parameters, as well as other groups and/or components of existing customer systems. The system is open and allows logging and control of all data and process parameters in the same platform.
From the VIP panel it is possible to:
This ensures constant product quality and high productivity. The control of weight and thickness per linear meter is integrated in the control of the dosing percentages and the volume of production.
Our system offers complete connectivity between production and offices, global data communication, material waste reduction, energy saving, quality control, personnel monitoring, production data analysis , all in compliance with the "Industry 4.0" guidelines.
Specific alarm indicators point out all errors or deviations of the production parameters from tolerances set by the user.
Thanks to the complete remote system connectivity, it is possible to speed up and economize MSM physical presence during the start-up phase, production changes, or in case of technical assistance.
GDS loss-in-weight gravimetric dosing units are designed to dose up to 7 materials for extrusion and co-extrusion processes, for a maximum production up to 500 kg/h (depending on the material density).
These machines feature a high reliability and dosing precision, also with materials in small quantities. GDS units are modular and eventually allow easy upgrades to include additional components in the extrusion process.
Each component weighing station is equipped with a weighed hopper which receives the plastic material above through a pneumatically controlled shutter. The state-of-the-art technology allows precise measurement of the material batch even in extreme environmental conditions. The feeding of the component to be dosed is carried out by means of a hopper loader together with a reserve hopper, all placed above the GDS dosing unit (directly on it or on a mezzanine).
There are different combinations of sleeve/auger for various application needs, ensuring the optimal use of the dosing station. A complete program for hopper loaders is available.
Main features of GDS doser are:
The design of the MULTIJET B double-flow air cooling ring from MSM conveniently combines several elements that allow to achieve excellent bubble stability, together with a high cooling power. The result is a high productivity, good thickness control and better optical properties of extruded film.
The tangential-type air inlet chamber balances the air flows of its tangential inlets, producing a uniformity of pressure along the entire circumference. This high air flow is then separated into smaller volumes in the inner ring distributors, resulting in a laminar segmented air flow for uniform bubble cooling across the circumference. Finally, the aerodynamic design of the lip creates a uniform depression zone around the bubble, which contributes to optimal stabilization. The system thus conceived allows you to work with the maximum blowing flexibility.
Thanks to the special design, our cooling rings can be easily adapted and used on all types of blown film extrusion heads (new or existing) and for all manufacturing processes.
Main features of the MULTIJET B cooling rings are:
The design of the MULTIJET A double-flow automatic cooling ring is designed to reduce thickness tolerances in the production of blown films and sheets in combination with the film thickness measurement system and the extrusion management console.
Thanks also to the integration with the GDS gravimetric system, the ring allows to obtain an extraordinary bubble stability, together with a high cooling power. The result is a high productivity and a perfect thickness control for superior quality of finished product.
Based on a tolerance profile of the measured thickness, the amount of cooling air is adjusted with high precision, resulting in an optimal control of thickness deviations from the setpoint value.
The cooling air flow is divided into smaller volumes along the circumference of the bubble. Automatic actuators regulate the flow of air in each sector to adjust the thickness of the bubble according to the measurements of the film thickness measuring system.
Using the MULTIJET A cooling rings, tolerances obtained can be less than 2% of average thickness, even if the starting point base is 10% or higher.
Thanks to the special design, our cooling rings can be easily adapted and used on all types of blown extrusion extrusion heads (new or existing) and for all manufacturing processes. All electronic components and most of the mechanical ones are almost maintenance-free and very reliable over time.
Main features of the MULTIJET A cooling rings are:
Film thickness measuring systems through a scanner, equipped with a capacitive sensor, are divided into:
FW 1000 system for in-line width measurement and blown film or sheet extrusion adjustment is an accessory that can be integrated into VIP systems.
The flattened bubble passes through a frame that measures its width using two infrared sensors placed at the edges of the film. The surface of the film is not damaged during measurement. Film width is recalculated cyclically, detecting the correct position of the edge.
During operation in automatic mode, the differences detected compared with the values assigned determine variations on the settings of the MULTIJET A automatic ring actuators. The width is modified by acting on the diameter of the calibration basket or by acting on the air regulator.
FW 1000 film width measurement system can be supplied with or without a regulation system.
